The National Safe Boating Council Inducts K38 Water Safety’s Shawn Alladio Into its Boating Safety Hall of Fame

Shawn Alladio is recognized for her unparalleled dedication and commitment to boating safety



Shawn Alladio was recognized for her award at the 2012 International Boating & Water Safety Summit (IBWSS) in San Diego, California on March 7, 2012 whereas she was formally inducted.The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) is proud to introduce its prestigious Boating Safety Hall of Fame Induction for 2011. The prestigious award is used to recognize those who have demonstrated vital leadership and support through many years of service to boating safety.


Joyce Shaw, NSBC Chair, presents Shawn Alladio with the NSBC Boating Safety Hall of Fame award.

For 2011, Shawn Alladio, a PWC Boating Safety Instructor and Water Safety Consultant will join thirty-four other people in the NSBC’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame.

Shawn is commended for her hard work and dedication that have helped make a lasting contribution to the interest of boating safety nationally and abroad. Shawn Alladio has more than thirty years’ experience in recreational boating safety. She has not only developed, but also contributed to the field of recreational boating safety through personal advocacy efforts, training and program development, curriculum development and on-water first-response water rescue.

Shawn has volunteered with dozens of state and agency organizations, clubs and associations, including the American Watercraft Association and their partnership with the H2O Responders public safety program. She has also enjoyed appointments as the IJSBA Water Safety Director, the International Surfing Association water safety director, creating water safety training and management for big wave surfing contests, and has held many positions in these different realms.

She has developed core programs for our nation’s military for personnel from the Navy, Army, Air Force and USMC, through K38 Maritime courses. Ms. Alladio has supported programs for our nation’s security and border protection, counter terrorism, and enforcement issues.

K38 has trained thousands of state and local public safety agency personnel and assisted in revolutionizing lifesaving worldwide through her for her hard work and perseverance. Some of her commendations include awards by the NSBC, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), and the National Water Safety Congress (NWSC).





In addition, she was awarded the prestigious Higgins & Langley Memorial Commendation Award for Flood and Swiftwater rescue for her actions during recovery efforts of Hurricane Katrina.

She is an original IJSBA Hall of Fame Inductee, and has received award for heroism and has been an active competition racer in the PWC community since 1980, focusing on endurance events.

Ms. Alladio has been instrumental in Wounded Warrior PWC projects in support of the Phoenix Patriot Foundation and the United Warrior Survivor Foundations, and is a published author and speaker.

“It is with great pride that National Safe Boating Council’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame now includes Ms. Alladio” remarks Veronica Floyd, Chair of the NSBC. “Her work and efforts in training others has truly helped to make boating a much safer recreational activity.” NSBC’s Executive Director Virgil Chambers read the commendation at the 2012 IBWSS presentation.
