Jimmys Kimmel, Fallon, and Stephen Colbert took to their shows to critique the 108-minute monologue, the longest of its kind. Kimmel quipped, "Trump told us it would be long, and he was right. It went on so long, even Kristi Noem's dog couldn't take it!"
Fallon added, "It was like a daily dose of Trump's greatness, except it lasted two hours. I feel like we've been getting this speech every day since he took office."
But here's where it gets controversial. The hosts not only took issue with the length but also with the content. Kimmel called the speech xenophobic and mean-spirited, lamenting that the leader of the free world used the platform to spread fear and hatred. He highlighted Trump's statement about "all foreigners being murderers" and his comments on immigration, which Kimmel found offensive and misguided.
"He bragged about ending diversity and inclusion initiatives and kicking people off food stamps. It was like a twisted Christmas message," Kimmel said.
Colbert, on the other hand, had a more lighthearted approach. He admitted to "dropping an edible" before tuning in, expecting a wild ride. And wild it was!
"The official theme, according to Trump's team, was 'America at 250: Strong, Prosperous, and Respected.' But if you have to declare your strength and respect, it feels a bit hollow, doesn't it?" Colbert questioned.
