Mobile Primary Care Clinics: Your Health, Your Convenience (2026)

Attention, Dartmouth and Lower Sackville residents! We have some important information about mobile primary care clinics coming your way. Accessing quality healthcare just got easier and more convenient!

Nova Scotia Health is bringing its mobile primary care clinics to your neighborhoods, offering drop-in appointments on specific dates. Here are the details you need to know:

Dartmouth:
- Dartmouth South Primary Care Clinic
- Location: 380 Portland Street, Dartmouth
- Dates: Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22
- Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days

Lower Sackville:
- Cobequid Community Health Centre
- Address: 40 Freer Lane, Lower Sackville
- Dates: Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22
- Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days

Please note that the first appointment is at 9 a.m., and the last appointment is at 3:45 p.m., with the clinics closing promptly at 4 p.m. These clinics operate on a drop-in basis, so no need to book in advance!

When you arrive, you'll be asked about your reason for visiting. The team will assess if they can help with your concern. If so, you'll be screened for acute viral respiratory infections and given an estimated appointment time.

But here's where it gets controversial... This service is temporary and designed for those with mild to moderate health issues. It's not a replacement for your regular primary care provider. So, if you have a doctor or nurse practitioner, it's best to call their office first to check for same-day appointments. However, if you're unable to see your regular provider or don't have one, this clinic is an excellent alternative.

The team approach includes nurse practitioners and family physicians, ensuring you receive comprehensive care. Remember to bring your health card and a list of your medications.

And this is the part most people miss... The clinic can only address non-urgent, low-acuity health issues. It's not an emergency service, so if you're experiencing a medical emergency, please visit the emergency department or call 911.

Types of concerns that can be addressed at the mobile primary care clinic include:
- Prescription refills or renewals (except for controlled substances)
- Minor respiratory symptoms
- Sore throat
- Earaches
- Fever
- Headache
- Rashes
- Minor gastrointestinal issues (vomiting and diarrhea)
- Cough, flu, or cold symptoms
- Urinary tract infections
- Muscle pain

Lab and diagnostic imaging requisitions are not part of the mobile service.
