A Young Entrepreneur's Vision: Revitalizing Barton's Historic Charm
Beatrice Duckitt, a 24-year-old hairdresser, has transformed her workplace into a thriving business, The Beehive, in Barton upon Humber. Her ambitious project aims to cater to the growing demand for wellness and self-care treatments. The Beehive, housed in the historic Old Dispatch Building, offers a sanctuary for relaxation and indulgence, featuring a spa, hot tub, sauna, and hair salon.
Beatrice's dedication and hard work, alongside her brother, partner, and friends and family, have been instrumental in this renovation. They demolished walls, replumbed and rewired the building, and even handled plastering and painting. Despite the challenges of restoring a historic site, Beatrice's enthusiasm is evident: 'It's been hard but it's coming together nicely. I'm learning a lot.'
The Beehive's opening party showcased the transformed space, now boasting eight treatment rooms, a large double room for couples' massages, and a salon. Beatrice's vision extends beyond the current setup, as she aims to establish The Beehive as a wellbeing spa, emphasizing the importance of self-care and luxury services at affordable prices. She plans to introduce refillable products, allowing customers to invest in quality without breaking the bank, especially for skincare, which can be costly.
The Beehive is now open for business, and Beatrice's focus shifts to building a thriving enterprise. Her commitment to creating a unique and welcoming space in Barton's historic setting is a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the community.
